What you can expect

This special course serves to acquire the necessary expertise in radiation protection for computed tomography examinations by veterinarians and, as a three-part combination course, also enables the acquisition of expertise
- Course part: Theoretical basics of computed tomography (online seminar)
- Course part: "Learning by doing" - Over a period of four months, 50 CT cases focussing on horses are available to each course participant for download and must be worked on independently.
- Course part: Discussion of these CT cases and consolidation of the knowledge learnt, which is finally checked by means of a success check
- Optional: diagnostic training, led by the experienced instructor Dagmar Berner with practical insights and help for precise diagnoses
Participation in all three parts of the course and passing the final examination are prerequisites for obtaining the specialist qualification.
The course focuses on the following topics:
- Physical and technical basics and the performance of computed tomography
- Practical radiation protection
- Relevant sectional anatomy of various body parts
- Typical diseases of horses

Learning by doing - June until October
Between the online seminar and the classroom course, you will be provided with 50 CT cases to download over a period of three months.
You will then work on these cases independently and analyse them in the subsequent face-to-face seminar.
The independent evaluation of the 50 CT cases is a prerequisite for obtaining ATF points.
